Hotmail.com is the first free web based email service that started in 1997 after which it was bought off by Microsoft from the founders of this revolutionary email service, Sabeer Bhatia and Jack Smith. At the time the email service was launched, it gained immense popularity and was bought off by Microsoft for a sum of four hundred million US dollars. It still remains one of the most popular email services and second only to Yahoo! Mail as per the usage statistics published from time to time. Over the years Hotmail has undergone several changes. There have been improvements made to its initial interface and features from the time it was launched. Today Microsoft has brought it under the Windows Live platform. Hotmail is thus also known as the Windows Live Hotmail service and it is now being integrated with Outlook.com
If you wish to sign into your existing Hotmail account, you would have to visit the domain of mail.live.com. Even if you type in Hotmail on your browser window you will still find that you are being redirected to outlook.com as Hotmail has been integrated with Outlook, the new web based email service launched by Microsoft. When you sign up for a new account on Hotmail you get an inbox with 5GB free space along with enhanced security features and spam filters that have been improved upon. The interface of the new Hotmail has been improved so that it loads quickly and hence, less data usage is required for one to load and browse through their Hotmail inbox.
When you visit the Windows Live Hotmail page, you will find the sign up section on the left, indicating the space where new users can sign up for a new account. Today, you will be getting a new Outlook account if you wish to sign up for a new Hotmail account. However, if you are an existing user of Hotmail you will still be able to access your existing account through the sign in section.
When you wish to sign into Hotmail account, you need to enter your full address on the first section, specified as the Windows Live ID field. You will need to enter your password in the next field. If you wish to sign in hotmail.com with a single code, that is also possible. With the registered phone number that you have provided, a code will be sent to your phone which will need to be typed in the box provided. With such a verification procedure, you can sign in without using your password. If you have forgotten your password, the same can be reset by asking for a verification code to be sent to your phone number or at the alternate email address provided. In such ways, it is possible to resolve problems faced when signing in to your Hotmail account. The Hotmail account then becomes your single sign on credentials for accessing different web based services of Microsoft under the Windows Live campaign.
